Modern Day Paris and the Paris of Yesterday

This CD will take you on a visit to a familiar Paris, but also offer you a glimpse of a side of Paris you may never have seen before: modern-day Paris presented in splendid photographs, and the Paris of yesterday as illustrated in the 19th-century paintings of the celebrated Carnavalet Museum.

You will revisit the sites of the French Revolution - and the period paintings, prints, and lithographs will let you relive the dramatic events of those days.

You will walk into the most famous museums to discover Paris' incredible art treasures. Fourteen illustrated itineraries, with a total of over 400 images and fourteen specially-created plates. Musical passages that evoke the magical atmosphere of Paris provide the perfect accompaniment as you navigate through the heart of the Ville Lumiere.

You will be able to review the history of Paris using the data base and selecting an itinerary that reveals the architectural styles, the authors, and the typology of the works.

This CD is enriched with a historical introduction by Georges Poisson, Conservateur Général du Patrimoine.
